If your monitor connecting to the DisplayPort interface on CalDigit’s Thunderbolt 3 Dock has no video output, please check the monitor input settings (from OSD menu if there is one) and cable/adapter connections. Otherwise, please check your cable and make sure that it is using DP 1.2 or higher. If anyone else has the problem make sure to get a DP to HDMI adapter and HDMI cable that both specifically say it's HDMI version 2.0.If you are connecting from DisplayPort to HDMI/VGA/DVI, please make sure to use an active adapter. I would be thankful for anythink that might help.ĮDIT: Problem solved by getting new adapter/cable. I think there is a way to get it to work with HDMI but I'm running out of ideas. I considered using a Displayport Switch or the Mini Displayport to Dual Link DVI adapter from Apple. When entering sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/ DisplayResolutionEnabled -bool true in Terminal it works in 1440p after a restart while the disk is unlocking but when the user accounts are shown it switches back to 1080p. Holding option key while clicking on "scale" in display settings I am using macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 on a Macbook Air 2014 11". However I booted into Ubuntu with a live flash drive and it worked with 1440p, so the hardware and cables are capable of it but it's a macOS issue. I ordered a 4k Mini Displayport to HDMI cable from Amazon (I think it's HDMI v2.0), but the max.

However I need the Displayport on the monitor for my gaming PC that uses Freesync, so there are only DVI and HDMI ports left for the Mac. When I connect my Macbook and monitor with a Mini Diplayport to Displayport cable it works with 1440p and 60 Hz which is what I want. I just got an Acer XF270HUA 1440p 144 Hz monitor.
